Q1: When and where Maharishi Mahesh Yogi Vedic Vishwavidyalaya (MMYVV) was established?

Ans. 1: : The MMYVV was established by the Act No. 37 of 1995 of Madhya Pradesh Government vide gazette notification no 573 dated 29 Nov 1995. The University head office is at Village Karaundi, Tehsil Sihora, District Katni (earlier Katni was part of Jabalpur district), Madhya Pradesh. Directorate of Distance Education of the University is situated at Lamti, Vijay Nagar, Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh.

Q2: Is it a Government University or a private University?

Ans. 2: : MMYVV has been established as a statutory University like any other UGC recognized University. This University is not established as private University under the provisions of private University act of Madhya Pradesh, but by a separate act.

Q3: What are the objectives of the MMYVV?

Ans. 3: The MMYVV has been established to disseminate quality education by using innovative methodology based on subjective knowledge of Maharishi Vedic Science, Transcendental Meditation (TM) and TM Sidhi programme. Maharishi Educational Institutions worldwide utilize Maharishi Consciousness based Education System (MCBE) for over 50 years. In India MMYVV has also introduced MCBE in mainstream of education.

The university offers Doctoral, PG, Gradual and Diploma programmes in most ancient Indian knowledge of Ved and Vedic Literature. The university started regular B. Ed. and B.P.Ed. courses approved by National Council of Teachers Education. [NCTE]. The university also offers D.Ed. 2 years course. MMYVV offers not only life oriented-life supporting Vedic courses but also offers conventional and professional job oriented courses. All modern and professional courses also have Vedic Science as part of curriculum, allowing students to enjoy full creative genius and total all round personality. MMYVV operates through its head office at Karaundi and six campuses (2 in Jabalpur, Indore, Bhopal, Sagar, Raisen and Sihore) and about 450 Associate Institutions across Madhya Pradesh.

Q4: What are means of transportation to University Head Quarters and Campuses?

Ans. 4: The MMYVV HQ is situated in Village Karaundi, Block Umariapan, Tehsil Dheemarkheda, district Kanti. The HQ is located approximately 80 Km from Jabalpur and 35 Km from Katni. Karaundi can be reached from Jabalpur & Katni by road [NH 7]. In Both cases have to leave the highway and need to turn from Sleemnabad (next to petrol station and take direction Umariapan) Nearest railway station is Sihora. Sihora railway station is about 40 kms from the campus. Students/visitors should make sure if train has a stop at Sihora station. Only few trains stop as Sihora. All trains stop at Jabalpur and Katni. Bhopal campus is located at Village Lambakheda, Berasia Road (state highway). It is only 15 minutes drive from main Bhopal railway station and Raja Bhoj airport.

Indore campus is in between Indore city and MHOW city on CAT road at Rau. Campus is about 40 minutes from railway station & bus stand and one hour from airport.

Jabalpur campus is situated on the bank of Holy River Narmada, Gwarighat, Mangeli. Its only 15 minutes from Railway station, 20 minutes from bus stand and 40 minutes from airport.

Second campus in at Vijay Nagar, Jabalpur, which is off the M4 road connecting to Jabalpur bypass road.

Raisen campus is just 100 meter off from Bhopal to Sagar Road.

Sihore campus is off about 200 meter from Bhopal Indore bypass highway. Sagar campus in at the entry of Sagar coming from Bhopal road.

Directorate of Distance Education and Education department is in Jabalpur city at Lamti, Vijay Nagar.

Q5: Is the University an affiliating University?

Ans. 5: Yes, it is affiliating University.

Q6: Who is the Chancellor of the University?

Ans. 6: : His Holiness Maharishi Mahesh Yogi Ji was the first Chancellor of the University. Now from January 2009 Brahmachari Girish Ji (Dr. Girish Chandra Varma, an accomplished world renowned educationist and the most blessed disciple of Maharishi Ji) is the Chancellor.

Q7: How is the University administered?

Ans. 7: The University is administered by Vice-Chancellor through a Board of Management and its various authorities and councils e.g. Academic Council, Finance Committee etc.

Q8. Is MMYVV recognized by UGC?

Ans. 8: Yes, MMYVV has been registered in list of UGC and is recognized by UGC under section 2 (F).

Q9. Is MMYVV a member of AIU?

Ans. 9: MMYVV is a member of Association of Indian Universities.

Q10. What are the Programmes offered by the University?

Ans. 10: The University offers Doctoral (Vidyavaridhi), Post Graduate (Acharya), Graduate (Shastri) and Diploma (Praman Patra) Programmes in Vedic subject–Maharishi Ved Vigyan, Jyotish, Yog, Sthapatya Ved-Vastu Shastra, Darshan, Vyakaran and Vedic Swasthya Vidhan. Other than these Vedic programmes, one-year diploma in Modern Office Management, Dress Designing and Manufacturing, Health Care and Beauty Culture, finance, HRM, Accounts and Auditing are also available.

M.Sc. (CS), MA (Education), BA, B.Com., BCA, BBA are conventional courses. Number of Computer (P.G.D.C.A.-2 Semester, D.C.A.-2 Semester) and ADCA courses are also available.

B.Ed. and B.P.Ed. approved by NCTE are available at Jabalpur campus. D.Ed. is approved by MP Education Board.

Other than MMYVV regular courses, 28 courses are available under IGNOU convergence scheme.

Q11. What is the duration and cost of the courses?

Ans. 11: This information has been included under “COURSES-MMYVV”.

Q12: Is there an entrance test for admission to the various Programmes?

Ans. 12: There is no entrance test for regular and distance education programmes of MMYVV. Any one can take admission in any of the programmes subject to his/her being eligible for admission as per the eligibility conditions. Admission to regular B. Ed. and B. P.Ed. programmes is as laid down by State Government-MP.

For courses of IGNOU under convergence scheme B.Ed. and MBA requires admission test. Please read brochure for details or visit IGNOU website.

Q13. When does the admission open for University programmes?

Ans. 13: The University admits student in January and June for all Vedic, conventional and Vocational Courses.

Q14: When is the advertisement published for admissions to MMYVV?

Ans. 14: The advertisement for admission is published in November-December and May-June every year, in all major English/Hindi newspapers published within MP and nearby states.

Q16. What is the Cost of the Nidarshika (Prospectus/brochure & Admission Form)?

Ans. 16: Cost of Nidarshika/Prospectus/Brochure is Rs. 250. When requested by post/courier, please send a Demand Draft in favour of MMYVV payable at Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh.

Q17. What are the modes of teaching?

Ans. 17: Regular classes or contact programmes (for distance education) are conducted at the University campuses, Associate Institutions and Study Centres of MMYVV. For those undertaking Distance Learning Programmes, timely contact periods are arranged at closest Study Centres. As regards other courses norms laid down by respective Councils are adopted.

Q18. What is the mode of payment of course fee?

Ans. 18: The course fee is to be paid only through crossed demand draft payable to MMYVV at Jabalpur.

Q19. How are the programmes of MMYVV different from other Universities?

Ans. 19: Besides benefits which the students gain in the normal educational system, exposure to time tested, scientifically validated, Maharishi's Consciousness based Education System helps students reach full potential as human being. Other additional benefits include: -

(a) The practice of Maharishi's Transcendental Meditation (TM) Programme is the practical aspect of Maharishi's Vedic Science and Technology, which imbibes the basic principles underlying and supporting the development of higher states of consciousness, thus laying the foundation for increased intelligence in the minds of the students and support of laws of nature. These deep connections between the students’ own growth of individual consciousness and cosmic consciousness around them is an integral part of curricula at MMYVV.

(b) Maharishi Transcendental Meditation[TM] technique, which is taught to every student is a simple, natural and effortless technique which is easily and systematically learned by anyone irrespective of age, education, religion, or background. The twice daily group practice of TM instills in students a natural orderliness and coherence making them more receptive to knowledge. They exhibit greater alertness and radiate bliss and friendliness to their classmates and their teachers.

(c) MMYVV has life oriented– life supporting Vedic courses, which hone the overall personality and outlook of students leading to a better quality of life. Ambitious students also combine Graduates programmes with Jyotish, Vastu or Health courses to develop their knowledge as a hobby or qualify to dual profession utilizing this knowledge as consultants.

Q20. What pattern of education is followed?

Ans. 20: Other than MA (Education) and Vedic Courses, all programmes are on semester basis.

Q21. Is there any concession in course fee for the employees of MMYVV staff?

Ans. 21: Staff of the MMYVV and other Maharishi Organisations including dependents is eligible for concession of up to 50% on gross fee.

Q22. Is the fee payable in lump sum?

Ans. 22: Yes. It is desirable that all fees are paid in single installment. Those unable to do so will be allowed to pay required installment of tuition fee only prior to commencement of each semester.

Q23: Is the fee refundable if a student discontinues the programme?

Ans. 23: Fee of ineligible candidates is refunded after a deduction of admission and enrollment fee as processing charges. In other cases fee is not refundable.

Q24. Is change of course/programme permissible?

Ans. 24: Yes, written request to the Vice Chancellor, MMYVV can be made for change. The student will, on obtaining sanction, deposit Rs. 300/- toward administrative costs.

Q25. Is change of study centre permitted?

Ans. 25: Yes, subject to availability of seat at the new campus/centre asked for.

Q26. Can a student pursue two programmes simultaneously?

Ans. 26: Yes, a student can pursue more than one programme simultaneously. Please read relevant section of brochure carefully to understand this feature.

Q27. Is change of Examination Centre permissible?

Ans. 27: Yes, subject to the convenience of the University.

Q29. When is the examination fee to be paid?

Ans. 29: At the time of submission of examination form i.e. approximately 2 months before the Examination.

Q30. Is there any provision for late submission of examination form?

Ans. 30: Yes, with late fee as prescribed by the University.

Q31. What fee is payable for issuing a duplicate Identity card?

Ans. 31: Rs. 50/- will be charged subject to the copy of FIR being produced by the students.

Q32. What is the fee payable for a duplicate admit card?

Ans. 32: No fee is charged for issuing a duplicate admit card/roll no.

Q33. What is the fee payable for a duplicate mark sheet?

Ans. 33: Rs.250/- only.

Q34. What fee is payable for a provisional certificate?

Ans. 34: Rs. 100/- only.

Q35. If a student is not able to clear all the papers of a semester, will he be declared fail?

Ans. 35: No. He can reappear in those papers along with the examination of the next semester. In case he fails in four consecutive attempts, his request for reappearing in those papers will not be considered. For further appearance the decision of the Academic Council would be final and binding.

Q36. In which state or city study centers exist?

Ans. 36: Study centres of the University have been established within jurisdiction of the University i.e. within M.P. Details may be seen under Study Center.

Q37. How will study material & assignments be delivered to students enrolled in Distance Education Courses?

Ans. 37: Study materials and assignment will be provided to student on completion of all admission formalities. Material will be forwarded through approved courier.

Q38. Will there be any contact programme for students undertaking DE courses.?

Ans. 38: Yes. Study centers will arrange contact programme issued by MMYVV. Study centers closest to the student permanent address will provide necessary student support.

Q39. Where will examination be conducted?

Ans. 39: Study Centers where students are enrolled for contact programme will be earmarked as examination center also. Incase the strength is below the minimum laid down; a near-by center will be earmarked as examination center.

Q40. Are any scholarships available?

Ans. 40: As of now there are none. Efforts to institute a few scholarships for all courses are under consideration of the Board of Management. Government of Madhya Pradesh has number of schemes for SC and ST students to reimburse total university fee.

Q41. Is there any reservation for NRI/Foreign Students?

Ans. 41: No. However the MMYVV is actively seeking international mix of participants.

Q42. How many seats are available for courses conducted by MMYVV?

Ans. 42: As a general rule all courses conducted at our study centers will have a minimum of 30 Seats. Courses conducted at the University Campus will have 60 Seats. Depending on the number of applications for admissions number of seats may be increased if sufficient facilities are available.

Q43. Will Placement Services be available?

Ans. 43: Yes. B.Ed. student scoring 75% and above can be inducted into Maharishi Vidya Mandir Schools, which is the largest chain of privately owned public schools. Similarly other student will be provided assistance for placements within different Maharishi organizations within Indian and abroad. Efforts are being made to set up guidance and counseling section to help students to secure suitable placement.

Q44. Are Hostel facilities available?

Ans. 44: At present Hostel facilities are available at Bhopal (for boys and girls students), Indore (only for boys) and Jabalpur (only for boys).
